I leave Earth
my favorite place
forced to embrace an achievement
no one I know asked for, voted on
The future is carved by nobodies, really,
who just happen to be smart in ways
designed to make us feel behind,
ancient, burdensome
I am trapped inside a rocket with a bunch
of other numbnuts, “The chosen,” they hail us
before sealing it shut from the outside.
I will not survive this terror engulfing me
compressing my commonplace heart
Abort! I scream, voice
lost in the shuddering, as the smartstraps
tighten and further restrain. Insane,
this human particle accelerator
Who will remember me when I am
no longer yours?
How I have loved you
I’m sorry I hurt you
Planet Earth

Nice collage. And I like the admonition to "gargle". Timely poem...
Ah...you capture something hard and poignant. Love the collage! Bev
